The Power of a Positive Mind
JUNE 23-AUG 20
Anxiety and stress are an increasingly common problem for people in our busy, modern world. These states of mind prevent us from experiencing peace and enjoy life.
Meditation is an effective way to combat negative states of mind and create a sense of mental freedom. By gaining experience of Buddhist meditation techniques and positive thinking, we can learn to control our mind, rather than allowing our mind to control us. By learning to accept painful feelings rather than being panicked by them, we can keep a calm and happy mind in all situations.
Weekly class topics:
Week 1—What is Faith?
Week 2—How to Make Good Choices
Week 3—Mental Freedom
Week 4—Patience and Love
Week 6—Joyful Energy
Week 7—The Benefits of Concentration
Week 8—Guarding the Mind
Week 9—Inner Balance
About the class:
You do not need to be a Buddhist to attend or benefit from the techniques taught. Each class consists of guided meditations and clear explanations, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. Although it is beneficial to attend the entire series, you may drop in at any time. Classes are held weekly. Suitable for all levels of experience.
About the teacher:
Gen Norden is a Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher for Kadampa Meditation Center Austin and Houston. She has been teaching Buddhism and meditation for over 25 years. Laura Morrison has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism for many years and brings a heartfelt and sincere explanation of meditation and Modern Buddhism to her teachings.
