Buddha Vajrasattva Retreat
Purifying negativities, creating merit, receiving blessings, and fulfilling our spiritual wishes
SUNDAY to FRIDAY, November 14–19
With Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Wangpo
Introduction to Vajrasattva Retreat (Nov 14)
We spend all our time and energy trying to avoid problems by making changes to our external world. However, our unhappiness and difficulties are not caused by the external world but are the result of the negative karma we have created in the past through our own harmful actions.
By relying upon Vajrasattva, the Buddha of purification and practising a special meditation we can free ourselves from all our negative karma. As a result, all our experiences will be positive, we will have a peaceful, pure mind and will easily remove obstacles to our spiritual development.
In this retreat, we will focus on the four special ways to remove negative karma known as the ‘four opponent powers’ using the sadhana Meditation and Recitation of Solitary Vajrasattva. By doing this, we remove karmic potentials that not only give rise to painful experiences but are obstacles to attaining spiritual realizations.
This introduction will cover the basics of the practice so that we can engage in the retreat with an understanding of what to do and how to do it.
